The Caulfield Commons is open to the public from sunrise to sunset throughout the year except on declared racing days. There are five entrances to the Reserve, including two tunnels (Glen Eira Tunnel and Guineas Tunnel) that provide direct access to the centre of the Reserve. Access to the internal car park is via the Glen Eira Tunnel.

Featuring two wetlands, BBQ and picnic areas, on and off-leash dog areas and informal sports fields, the Caulfield Commons is the perfect place to exercise, explore and socialise with friends. The Commons also hosts a range of events activities including the monthly Rotary Community Market.

The Reserve is managed on behalf of the Victorian Government by the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trust.

The Reserve was established in 1859 for the purposes of racing, recreation and as a public park. Since this time the Reserve has gone through a range of changes, including major upgrades in 1996 and more recently in 2022. The racetrack underwent a major reconstruction in 1996 along with the construction of the main grandstand (Rupert Clarke Stand) and southern dam. Following the conclusion of training in 2021, major works were undertaken throughout 2022 to construct a second racetrack (The Heath) on the inside of the existing track and previous training infrastructure was removed. Previously only open to the public between 9:45 am and 1pm and 4pm to sunset due to horse training, the Reserve is now open throughout the day.

The Caulfield Racecourse Reserve is located on the traditional lands of the Bunurong people. We recognise the ongoing connection to land, waters and culture and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
