A state significant community and events destination is now a step closer at Caulfield Racecourse Reserve

Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trust has just released an Issues and Opportunities Paper – a key step to realising the future potential and vision of the Reserve, as it strives to become the centre of community life.

The paper, which identifies a range of exciting opportunities – including a ‘Tan style’ running and cycling track, sporting grounds and pavilions and increased pedestrian pathways – represents the views of many contributors and feedback received from stakeholders and the wider community.

Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trust Chairperson, Mr Sam Almaliki, said it was imperative that the community’s views and insights were heard and reflected correctly.

“Understanding the lived experience of the diverse range of users at the Reserve has enabled us to develop a comprehensive paper which will guide the future direction of this iconic space.

“We committed to a community workshop, as well as exhibiting a draft paper for public feedback, to make sure that nothing was overlooked or not considered.” said Mr Almaliki.

The next step for the Trust is the development of a ten-year Land Management Plan (LMP), which will be informed by the Issues and Opportunities Paper, and set the scene for the future of the reserve.

The draft Land Management Plan is due to be complete mid-2020 and will be available for public comment.
